The Perak State Assembly fiasco demonstrates the consequences of the judiciary, civil service and executive disregarding law and choosing instead to be jelly backs bending to the bloody minded racist ruling coalition under the despicable fiefdom of Najib Razak.
The highest court of the land ignores clear provisions in the constitution and other laws and chooses instead to twist them – so grotesquely they don’t know which way is up. We have the retired judge NH Chan to thank for pointing this out loudly and clearly.
The curse on the superior bench surely has to do with not just its succumbing to the will of the feudal lords with Najib at the head of the pack. The shockingly bad quality of the judges also has everything to do with the NEP.
Again and again I tell my friends – when you choose a candidate for a role not on the basis of qualifications and ability but on the basis of skin colour, it is only a matter of time before the institution represented by that role goes to the dogs. Choose a judge primarily because he is a Malay? Do that often enough and long enough and you will surely have stupid judges, as we do now in Malaysia. There are lots of them in all courts and all because we allowed the country to be ruled on the basis of racist policies. Is it any surprise such judges don’t interpret and apply the law but act based on the wishes of their political masters?
The stupid and cowardly cannot be trusted to do the right thing. The civil service has the same problem. The assembly secretary in Perak disregards rules and acts only to the basis of his political (and almost certainly) pecuniary interests. Civil servants have to serve the people, according to law. They cant – not authorised to – do anything else. But if judges of the highest court can ignore the law, hey who is a civil servant to worry about law huh? Ditto police I guess.
In other words when in Malaysia, you are at the mercy of the ruling thugs. I’m glad I left.
